2.) VENICE Feature Overview
VENICE hardware
VENICE is a video server which can be controlled over a network by its easy to use
remote user interfaces. The system itself offers a local RAID 6 protected storage,
redundant system drives and power supplies, as well as the most important video,
audio, timecode, and remote control interfaces. VENICE’s server software
communicates with the remote user interfaces directly and provides all necessary
information like picture, timecode, paths, or codecs settings over the network.

Single-link SD/HD-SDI input and output
Dual-link SD/HD-SDI input and output (one channel only)
HD/SD genlock input, 1 × BNC
Dual-link DVI output
Analog RGB/YUV output (on DVI connector)
H- and V-sync output on DVI connector
Audio interfaces per video channel
8 channels digital audio AES/EBU
16 channels embedded audio at SDI connector
Control interfaces per video channel
RS-422 remote input and output, 2 × DSub 9 pin
LTC input and output, 1 × XLRf and 1 × XLRm
All capturing and play-out operations will be performed from the local storage of
VENICE or from an external storage connected directly to VENICE via Fibre
Channel. When working in a file-based workflow, it is recommended to use a SAN
to exchange files more easily.
